Pick Analysis. WR. Brandon Aiyuk. 2. 854. Scouting Report. player. Arizona State

Having the first pick of the second round can be an extremely valuable and advantageous position to be in. There is still plenty of talent worth getting excited about on the board and teams have had a full night to think about which players they want. A trade down is certainly possible for the Cincinnati Bengals here, especially if a desperate team wants to pay too much for a specific prospect. That being said, Cincy stands pat here and gets Burrow a strong receiver to work with.

Brandon Aiyuk is an extremely quick and explosive receiver who has legitimate game-breaking speed on the outside. He is a great route runner who can beat off coverage with shorter routes and releases at the line of scrimmage extremely well. Aiyuk is crisp in his routes and uses great short-area quickness and fantastic acceleration to consistently separate against man coverage.

Aiyuk tracks the deep ball well and is strong in contested catch situations. He is a true deep threat who can also make an impact in the short and intermediate range. Once Aiyuk has the ball in his hands, he is an extremely slippery and elusive ball carrier who changes directions quickly and explodes into open space. He also finishes his runs hard, typically picking up a few extra yards after contact against defensive backs.

The Bengals coaches will have a first-hand look at Aiyuk this week and I expect that they will come away extremely impressed. He is an obvious target for this team if he is available in the early second round. Getting Burrow more dynamic pass catchers to work with has to be a priority for the Bengals and Aiyuk certainly fits the bill.
