Defensive Tackle. Auburn. player. 32. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Derrick Brown. 8

Now flipping to the other side of the trenches to the defensive line, the Arizona Cardinals have a substantial need at defensive tackle. Corey Peters, who is a solid player overall is entering the final year of a three-year contract extension. Aside from him, the Arizona Cardinals lack significant depth at the defensive tackle position as the only other nose tackle that Arizona is currently rostering is unproven 2019 UDFA, Miles Brown.

Auburn’s Derrick Brown is a stud defensive tackle prospect who can come in day one and be a franchise cornerstone for many years. Throughout his college career, Brown has made a habit out of giving opposing offensive lines a fit. Brown is an excellent mover for someone who is 6-4 and weighs in at 318 pounds. He plays with a high motor, showing immense strength and burst for the position.

Although head-up nose tackle is his most natural fit in a 3-4 defensive scheme, Brown could slide over to play in the 3-technique. Doing so could create a solid front three with Brown, Peters and 2019 third-round pick Zach Allen all playing at the same time.

While there are other good defensive tackle prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals would do well to select Brown should he be here at eight. Brown’s high motor and attention to technique would a dream come true for defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.
