2020 NFL Draft: Patriots find a QB of the future in two-round mock draft
Similar to the Panthers, the Cardinals have many holes to fill but could certainly benefit from adding a tackle that can protect their young quarterback and elevate their run game. Jedrick Wills is a player that has flown up 2020 NFL Draft boards over the course of the season.
Despite playing right tackle at the college level for Alabama, Wills displays all the traits teams look for in a franchise left tackle. Wills was charged with protecting the blindside of his left-handed quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, while he was on the field, and exhibited magnificent pass blocking technique.
Wills has solid footwork, great hands and plus athleticism for a guy of his size. He is effective as a run blocker, using his power and athleticism to make an impact on every play. Wills thrives in pass protection, possessing a great blend of balance, power, mobility and tenacity to finish every play keeping his quarterback clean.
As good as Kyler Murray is when running around and making plays while out of the pocket, Arizona doesn’t want him running for his life play after play. Allowing Murray to feel comfortable sitting in the pocket and reading the field would be instrumental in his development. Whether they opt to keep him at right tackle or move him to the left side of the line, Wills has what it takes to be one of the best linemen in the league for a very long time.
