Scouting Report. LSU. Joe Burrow . 1. 56. Pick Analysis. Quarterback. player

This pick has become probably the most obvious one in the draft. Be in the Bengals or another team that mortgages their team’s entire future to acquire the pick, Joe Burrow will be the first name called in the 2020 NFL Draft.

I can’t imagine that the Bengals would be willing to give Burrow up for nearly anything, and I really can’t see a scenario where a team would be willing to give up what it likely would take to move to number one. So Burrow to the Bengals it is.

There is really no way that someone can watch Joe Burrow this season, especially down the stretch of LSU’s championship run, and not believe that he will be the first pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. He has been that impressive.

Some prospects look great on film but lack production. Some guys fill up the stat sheet with impressive numbers but have some sort of flaw or red flag that produces doubt in the minds of evaluators. There hasn’t been a test that Joe Burrow has not passed in my mind.

When you watch him on tape, he is one of the most impressive players in the nation. His escapability from pressure and ability to keep his eyes downfield and deliver accurate throws off schedule is second to none. In the pocket? Burrow displays great poise reading the field, working through his progression and deliver a perfect ball to an open target.

As impressive as Burrow is to watch, he may be even more eye-popping to those that just look at the box score. 400+ yards and 5+ touchdown games were the norm for Burrow this season. Even while playing in the vaunted SEC. Every opponent that Burrow and the Tigers came across that people believed would slow him down didn’t even cause him to break a sweat.

I’m sure the Bengals, head coach Zac Taylor and the Cincinnati coaching staff would love the opportunity to get some experience with him early on in the Senior Bowl, but this is still a no-brainer even if Burrow does not participate.

Cincy has seen their ceiling with Andy Dalton and gave Ryan Finley the chance to lock down the job this season. They have as glaring of a need at quarterback as any team in the National Football League and have the best quarterback prospect that I have seen in quite some time sitting in front of them. Slam dunk, home run, no doubt about it… Burrow to the Bengals at one.
