2020 Senior Bowl WR Preview: Best group we’ve seen in Mobile?
Kalija Lipscomb, Vanderbilt
The Vanderbilt Commodores didn’t have a great 2019 season, but Kalija Lipscomb showed he can be a capable wide receiver at the next level. He didn’t build on his 900-plus yard, nine touchdown season in 2018, but the traits are still there.
Lipscomb can work vertically down the field with an adequate amount of speed and is great tracking the football over his shoulder. He thrives on out-breaking routes and shows good fluidity as a route runner. He even put LSU freshman Derek Stingley on skates a couple of times during their game. Will we see more consistency when it comes to his hands and release in Mobile? Time will tell.
Jauan Jennings, Tennessee
Last, but not least, is Tennessee wide receiver Jauan Jennings. Jennings getting a Senior Bowl invite may have surprised some people, even myself. However, once you watch him play a little bit, you see some potential as an NFL receiver.
Jennings is a very raw talent, but he fights for every yard after the catch through contact and is quick, making defenders miss in space. If Jennings can continue to develop into a good route runner with that athleticism, teams will definitely take a chance on him in the 2020 NFL Draft.
