Justin Herbert, Oregon

Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert enters the Senior Bowl as the third-best quarterback in the class, to most analysts anyway. When the Herbert tape goes on, you see a quarterback with immense arm talent. He can push the ball down the field vertically and has the arm strength to get the ball into tight windows.

We know about his athleticism, and his three touchdown runs in the Rose Bowl showed that. Herbert has also improved with his touch down the field and has shown it on several occasions in 2019.

So why are analysts divided on him? Well, it mostly relates to consistency and handling pressure. There are games where Herbert is on fire with throws to the intermediate level and deep down the field, but then there are others where he misses over and over. Herbert also braces for contact in the pocket which also affects his accuracy.

What does Herbert need to do in Mobile? Consistency is key for him. During one-on-ones with wide receivers and defensive backs, Herbert needs to show he can consistently hit the deep ball down the field and on deep out routes. He also can quiet all the doubters that aren’t confident in his leadership skills by commanding the huddle during practices. He will be a fun watch down in Mobile.
