NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year nominee and defensive end Nick Boss has indeed solidified himself as a major asset for the San Francisco 49ers. Specifically, he’s contributed to a whole lot for the 49ers defensive team, as they’ve once again become one the best teams in the NFL.
The 49ers, who recently captured the NFC West title and are slated to face the Green Bay Packers for the NFC Championship, have overwhelmingly improved as a whole team since the starting of the 2019 season.
As they’ve garnered an impressive season record of 13 wins and 3 losses, the 49ers have drastically turned things around, coming off an unimpressive 4-12 record from last year’s 2018 season. Because of this, one could argue that the San Francisco 49ers drafting Nick Bosa has been a major game-changer for the entire organization.
Bosa, the second-overall pick in the 2019 Draft has been a consistent playmaker for the 49ers on the defensive side of the ball. He is not a freak speed rusher on the edge, but he uses a fantastic combination of quickness, power and elite hand usage to consistently put pressure on the quarterback. He is an ace pass rusher who also dominates as a run defender on the edge.
Furthermore, Bosa’s season statistics have painted a real picture just how well he played during the 2019 season. With a total of 47 tackles and nine sacks throughout the entire season, Bosa’s capabilities shown he not only has the potential to get better but also impressed NFL critics and fans alike.
His impressive three-sack, one-interception performance in Week 8 against the Carolina Panthers earned him NFC Defensive Player of the week honors. He was also awarded the NFC Defensive Player of October. With Bosa continuing to start as a left defensive end, it’s safe to say that he’s quickly becoming a notable player for the NFL.
