2020 NFL Draft: Quarterback-only mock draft predictions
Prediction: 18th overall to Raiders
In two offseasons with the Raiders, Jon Gruden has stuck it out with Derek Carr.
Because of the fact that Carr is such a likable guy and good leader, it’s not hard to figure out why he’s still the QB the Raiders are most invested in, but as this franchise moves from Oakland to Las Vegas, I can’t help but think we’re going to see them go a different direction at QB.
Carr will land on his feet. He’s a solid quarterback who is capable of helping a team win games, but is he the type of talent elevator the Raiders need? Does he have the natural gifts as a passer and quarterback to take this franchise where they want to be?
I’m not so sure.
Although Justin Herbert is not the same type of personality as Carr, I think the Raiders will obviously take a liking to his physical skillset and if they could snatch him up with one of their two first-round picks, this is a move I think they’d be more than open to making.
I’ve looked at scenarios over the last couple of months where the Raiders take someone like Jalen Hurts, trade up for Tua Tagovailoa, or pretty much any other possible move. I just have a gut feeling we’re going to see them make a big one and Herbert would qualify.
