2020 NFL Draft: Quarterback-only mock draft predictions
Prediction: 5th overall to Dolphins
If the Miami Dolphins don’t come away from the 2020 NFL Draft with Tua Tagovailoa as their quarterback of the future, I would have to think it will be considered a massive disappointment.
Despite Tagovailoa’s long list of injuries, he’s still an elite prospect with big-time upside as a franchise player moving forward.
This is a player who has such an innate feel for the game that can’t be coached, and the way he plays in big games cannot be overstated.
Tagovailoa was wildly productive for the Crimson Tide in his three seasons there, and from the moment he stepped onto the field in the second half of that National Championship win against Clemson, it was clear that he had what it takes to play at the NFL level.
With top-end arm talent, pocket poise, accuracy to all levels of the field, and particularly his accuracy on deep balls, the best comparison I can drum up for the way Tagovailoa plays is Russell Wilson.
He may not be as athletic in space, but Tua is a dynamic athlete in his own right and when he’s full-speed, he’s an elite all-around prospect at the position who could help turn the Dolphins’ fortunes around.
