2020 NFL Draft: 5 best team fits for Oklahoma WR CeeDee Lamb
By Ian Higgins
Quarterback: Carson Wentz
Receivers: Alshon Jeffery, Desean Jackson, Nelson Agholor, Zach Ertz
How long until an Eagles receiver makes the big play? After experiencing a seemingly inescapable pit of misery that is wide receiver procurement in Philadelphia, CeeDee Lamb may be the only answer for Doug Pederson and Carson Wentz.
The current number one aerial threat on the roster is safety blanket tight end, Zach Ertz, breaking out as a league-leading tight end in almost every statistical category. Alshon Jeffery has had an ‘on & off’ tenure in Philadelphia, with a mix of bright spots and dark times. Nelson Agholor has continued to be the bane of Eagles fan’s existence for every dropped ball in crucial moments. Finally, returning local legend Desean Jackson began with a promising first game and then proceeded to miss the rest of the season due to injury and can only be so trusted at 33 years old.
Lamb is a well-balanced blend between the size of Jeffery and the speed of Jackson, able to create a new offensive dimension for Philadelphia with his unique playmaking ability. The last dynamic playmaker in an Eagles uniform was a young Desean Jackson, able to break a game open with his elite speed on any given snap. Lamb may not be the same type of player as Jackson, but he can still provide that needed explosiveness to this vanilla offense.
Doug Pederson would love to have a young weapon such as Lamb in his offense and should look to design a number of plays around both his one-on-one ability as well as his production after the catch. Carson Wentz had a great reemergence at the end of the 2019 season and can look to the 2020 NFL draft to find the Eagle’s next attempt at acquiring a star receiver.
