Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma

If the Jaguars aren’t lucky enough to land Isaiah Simmons at 9, they should look at Kenneth Murray out of Oklahoma with their 20th overall pick. I already touched on how pressing of a need middle linebacker is for Jacksonville and Murray is another player that has the stuff to be a day-one starter for the Jags.

In three years with the Sooners, Murray totaled over 300 tackles, 36.5 tackles for a loss and 9.5 sacks, earning First-Team All-Big-12 and Third-Team All-American honors in 2019. Oklahoma’s defense has notably been their Achilles’ heel in years past but they were much improved in 2019, in large part because of the play of Murray.

He can keep up with anybody he’s asked to cover in the passing game and also knows how to get dirty in the run game as well. His blend of size and athleticism make him an ideal option at middle linebacker in today’s NFL.

Murray has the speed, motor, instincts and leadership ability that are all lacking at the position for Jacksonville at the moment. In a really thin class of linebackers in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Jaguars should put a lot of value in landing either Simmons or Murray.
