Isaiah Simmons, LB/S, Clemson

The Jacksonville Jaguars had a nightmare of a season at the linebacker position in 2019. Telvin Smith abruptly retired in the summer, causing Myles Jack to make a move inside where he struggled mightily. The rest of the unit was a patchwork job that saw six different linebackers start at least four games and teams took full advantage of the weakest unit on the team.

Opponents averaged 5.1 yards per carry against the Jaguars in 2019 (31st in the NFL) and they allowed more 40+ yard carries than anybody in the league (6).

Adding a playmaker and sideline-to-sideline player like Clemson’s Isaiah Simmons could immediately help a unit that is desperate for a star. He would instantly help set the tone in the middle of the field and allow Jack to move back to where he is more comfortable on the outside.

Simmons is such a versatile athlete and could make an impact all over the field for the Jaguars. He is just as comfortable playing at the line of scrimmage as he is dropping into single high looks at safety and excels at both.

Simmons is fresh off of a dominating performance in the National Championship game and is expected to blow up the combine next month. If he is still available for the Jaguars at 9, he is a home run.
