2020 NFL Draft: 1st round mock projections following divisional games
We’re finally to the playoff teams in this 2020 NFL Draft mock, and the Philadelphia Eagles are up first. The secondary needs a major overhaul, and a good start would be selecting Xavier McKinney. McKinney has a lot of versatility. He can play near the box with his sure tackling ability and has the speed and instincts to play in man coverage or in a single-high look.
This pairing will likely show up in 90 percent of mock drafts. The Buffalo Bills need that big wide receiver who can get down the field for Josh Allen, and Tee Higgins fits the bill. Higgins has the size and speed to be a threat down the field, with sure hands and an ability to high point the football. He’s also developing more of a route tree and shows great ability to change direction at times on tape.
It’s weird to see the New England Patriots in this position, but this team needs an influx of talent to the roster. Wide receiver is an option for them in this spot, but they opt to continue building that defense, especially with several linebackers set to hit free agency. K’Lavon Chaisson could be a great chess piece for the Belichick defense. He’s great coming off the edge but can also work in space.
The New Orleans Saints are a team that might consider a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft, especially with Drew Brees and Teddy Bridgewater both currently free agents. However, I think at least one of the two comes back. The need shifts to the defense, where Kenneth Murray could bring some juice to the linebacker position. He can work well in space and come downhill to make plays.
