2020 NFL Draft: 1st round mock projections following divisional games
The Dallas Cowboys underwhelmed in the 2019 season, and find themselves in the top 20 of the 2020 NFL Draft. With plenty of needs on defense, best player available needs to be the strategy. Here, they select Grant Delpit to help bolster the secondary. While Delpit struggled a bit in 2019, he still has the range and ball skills to succeed on the back end of a defense.
The Miami Dolphins are back on the clock with their second of three picks, and after taking Tua, now best available becomes the move. With no value at offensive line at this spot, the Dolphins switch over to defense and select Yetur Gross-Matos. Head coach Brian Flores is from the Bill Belichick tree and prefers to have length with his edge rushers. Gross-Matos has that and good lower body strength, along with plenty of upside.
The Las Vegas Raiders are back on the clock, and here is a bit of a shocker. Jordan Love might be the most polarizing player in the 2020 NFL Draft class, and after a down season in 2019, analysts are questioning his ability to be a franchise quarterback. However, Love succeeded with a good coach, and has incredible arm talent and touch throwing the football. Jon Gruden could mold him into a great signal-caller.
The Jacksonville Jaguars traded corner Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams, and they would be remiss to not take a corner with this pick in the first round. While Trevon Diggs may not be the most refined corner, he has the size, speed, and ball skills that will intrigue teams. He can develop into a great corner who has a great understanding of wide receivers.
