Round 2, No. 58 Overall: Damon Arnette, CB, Ohio State

Next on the list for the Minnesota Vikings has to be the cornerback position. Why the corner spot? Well, to start, Xavier Rhodes counts so much against the cap going forward, and Trae Waynes, arguably their best corner in 2019, is going to be a free agent. To top it off, Holton Hill and Mike Hughes have struggled to stay healthy.

The good news for the Vikings is that the corner class in the 2020 NFL Draft is a very good one. They can find a quality starter in the second round, and they do here by selecting Ohio State corner Damon Arnette.

Arnette didn’t get the hype in 2019 like fellow corners Jeffrey Okudah and Shaun Wade, the latter of whom is going back to school, but he should have. Arnette improved a lot by going back to school for his senior season. He looked a lot more comfortable near the line of scrimmage and excelled in man coverage this season. Arnette is physical and willing to come up and tackle in the run game as well.

Unfortunately, Arnette pulled out of the Senior Bowl, but there should be enough on tape for the Vikings to pick him and have him replace Waynes on the outside to start the 2020 season.
