Tom Brady free agent destinations in every division
NFC East: Washington Redskins
Can we put ‘none’ here?
I guess since I’ve committed to talking about one possible team from every division, I’ve got to pick one.
Before the Cowboys hired Mike McCarthy, they would have been my spot in the NFC East with a possible pairing of Brady and McDaniels in Jerry-land.
That would have been some kind of spectacle.
The Redskins just hired Ron Rivera, who is one of the most widely respected coaches in the NFL right now. If anyone could convince Brady to play in the nation’s capital after spending 20 years as a Patriot, it would be him.
Washington has done a good job of cutting some bad weight this offseason and bringing in culture-changing coaches. They are likely going to be able to take the best defensive player — Ohio State’s Chase Young — in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Although the Redskins used a first-rounder on Dwayne Haskins last year, I don’t know that what we saw from him as a rookie was enough to say Tom Brady would not be a trump card.
I don’t think Washington would have a great shot of landing Brady, but some of their situation currently makes you wonder, especially the idea of Rivera convincing Brady to come aboard.
