AFC East: Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins just went into New England and won a game that mattered to the New England Patriots in week 17.

Brian Flores is getting the players to play for him in South Beach, and the culture in Miami has changed a lot quicker than most people thought it would.

The Dolphins have three first-round picks this offseason, and signing a player like Tom Brady — who obviously knows Flores from their time together in New England — would help draw other ring-chasing free agents to Miami as well.

The cupboard isn’t completely bare for Miami, but this is definitely a team that has planned on rebuilding for some time. They may not feel close to contending now, but I think we’d be surprised at what kind of impact Brady could make here for the short term.

This would allow the Dolphins flexibility with their top draft choice if they aren’t pleased with Tua Tagovailoa’s medicals or something like that.

In the end, I think the Dolphins are (rightly) thinking more long game than this. If I had to pick any AFC East team besides the Patriots, however, this one is a fun option, if from no other perspective than Brady’s.

Florida has no state income tax, Miami is obviously a place Brady and his family could enjoy outside of football, and if Brady leaves the Patriots because they want to move on or it’s about money or something, maybe it would fire up the competitive juices to be able to play against his former team.

Dolphins fans are probably hoping their team will just draft a quarterback, and Tua Tagovailoa has to be the #1 hope I think for most at this point, but this would be an interesting spot for Brady to land from an outside perspective.

I don’t think Brady will leave the Patriots — if at all — with ill will, and would put this destination somewhat low on the ‘likelihood’ list.
