2020 NFL Draft: 5 Prospects New York Giants could target with No. 4 pick
By Evan Bachman
This would be the most unexpected pick of the entire draft with Daniel Jones being picked sixth overall last year, but Tagovailoa shouldn’t be out of the conversation for the Giants. Jones showed promise his rookie season, but we don’t know if he’s going to be a good NFL quarterback or not, so why not take Tagovailoa and increase the odds of finding your quarterback of the future?
Most would agree that Tagovailoa is a better prospect than Jones. There is some uncertainty with his injury, but according to Ian Rapport on Twitter, “His visit to NY to get an update on his medical situation was all positive.” With his accuracy to all levels of the field, especially on the deep ball, his athletic ability, and his proven good decision making he has star potential.
While I do think the New York Giants should strongly consider taking Tagovailoa, I don’t see it happening for many reasons. First, it’s obvious that they have a lot of faith in Daniel Jones after taking him way earlier than most expected. Second, they have a lot of other needs that can be addressed with fourth overall pick. Third, it would be a controversial pick considering they took a quarterback so high last year and Gettleman probably doesn’t want to make another controversial move.
