2020 NFL Draft: 5 Prospects Atlanta Falcons should target with no. 16 pick
By Evan Bachman
If the players listed above are gone the Atlanta Falcons could look to get good value at another position of need. Devonta Freeman isn’t the same running back that he used to be. This year he averaged 3.6 yards per carry and got a 60.7 overall grade, which ranks 64th in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.
D’Andre Swift would add another dynamic weapon to this offense that already has Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Austin Hooper (if he re-signs). He is at his best as a runner when he gets into open space where he can make defenders miss. He is good at finding holes created by his offensive line and exploding into them. An underrated aspect of his game is his strength. Swift constantly drags tacklers and falls forward for extra yardage when he gets a head of steam.
He also can be very valuable as a pass catcher in the NFL. Throughout his career at Georgia, he had 73 catches for 666 yards and five touchdowns. He has good hands and is very dangerous on screens and check-downs because of his speed and elusiveness.
One weakness I would say he is running in between the tackles because he is not big or powerful enough to break tackles when he doesn’t get a head of steam. This is nitpicking however and I believe he has pro bowl level potential.
