2020 NFL Draft: 5 Prospects Atlanta Falcons should target with no. 16 pick
By Evan Bachman
With Grady Jarrett already on the team the Falcons don’t have a big need for an interior pass rush, but Tyeler Davison and Jack Crawford are both free agents, so Atlanta could look to the 2020 NFL Draft to find a replacement to line up next to Jarrett. While other positions on this defense take priority if Javon Kinlaw is available and Gross-Matos, Fulton, and Delpit are all gone, Kinlaw would be a good value pick and would form a scary pairing with Jarrett.
Kinlaw has massive size (6-foot-6, 310 pounds) and is great against the run and rushing the passer. In the pass rush, he can win with just a straight bull rush because he’s so strong and powerful or with a quick first step. This strength and quickness also allow him to win leverage battles in the trenches against the run. Another thing I really like about Kinlaw is how hard he plays. There’s one play against Alabama where he hustles to bring down Najee Harris eight yards downfield.
South Carolina had Kinlaw line up anywhere between 0-technique to 3-technique, which is anywhere from directly in front of the center to the outside shoulder of the guard. He could do the same for the Falcons and they could move him around the interior of the line and find favorable, one-on-one matchups for him with Jarrett getting a lot of attention.
