I think eventually, The Draft Network is going to need to update their mock draft simulator so that Antoine Winfield Jr. doesn’t last so deep into the day two selections.

For now, though, the Cowboys come away with what could be the steal of the draft.

The son of longtime NFL cornerback Antoine Winfield, Winfield Jr. was one of the top playmakers in all of college football this past season as a rare fourth-year redshirt sophomore.

Winfield has received extra eligibility from the NCAA due to injuries in 2017 and 2018 limiting him to just eight games total, but we saw what kind of impact he is capable of making with a full season in 2019.

Winfield picked off seven passes in his incredible 2019 campaign and additionally forced a pair of fumbles. He’s always around the football and is always attacking, playing aggressively but instinctively.

If Byron Jones leaves in free agency, this guy could be the ideal replacement as a safety/corner hybrid type of player.
