Dallas Cowboys 2020 mock draft: All aboard the Mike McCarthy train
If the Cowboys make moves to retain all their top players offensively as well as Robert Quinn, there may not be enough room in the pie left for defensive back Byron Jones.
Jones’ potential departure aside, the Cowboys need depth and an infusion of young talent in the secondary with Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis entering contract years next year.
Bryce Hall has played a lot of football for the Virginia Cavaliers, and heading into the 2019 season, he was considered among the best defensive backs in all of college football. He only played six games in his senior season, and his draft stock took a huge hit because of it.
While Hall is an example of why guys might be wiser to leave school early when their stock is red hot, his loss in draft value is the Cowboys’ gain here as Dallas gets a big, physical defender with a nose for the football.
He had 25 pass breakups in his final 19 games at Virginia, including a pair of interceptions.
He also proved he could play in the box, racking up 9.5 tackles for loss and four sacks in his career.
