New York Jets

In the 2019 NFL Draft, the New York Jets took a chance on troubled pass rusher Jachai Polite in the hopes that he could give them the help they needed. Unfortunately for the Jets, Polite flamed out almost immediately, being cut after the conclusion of the 2019 preseason.

For the remainder of the year, the Jets pressed on with the likes of Jordan Jenkins, Kyle Phillips, Tarrell Basham, Jordan Willis, and Harvey Langi. Despite the lack of overall talent at the position, Jenkins had his best statistical year as a pro, notching 8 sacks in 2019. However, Jenkins will be a free agent when the new league year begins, and if the Jets brass would like to keep some relative consistency, they would do well extend the fourth-year pass rusher.

The New York Jets essentially played themselves out of the Chase Young sweepstakes for the 2020 NFL Draft, they would be looking to draft Anae later on. Currently, the New York Jets hold the 48th pick in the second round. While I think that’s a little early for Anae, they could target him there. Conversely, the Jets also hold the 68th pick in the third round of 2020 NFL Draft, which is still right in Anae’s range.

Like with Baltimore, Anae can step in right away and potentially shine in a 3-4 front for Gregg Williams and the New York Jets. He and Jenkins could form a nice duo, with each player complementing each other’s skills fairly well.
