Isaiah Simmons, LB/S, Clemson

Dynamic interior linebacking to help backup edge rushers Von Miller and Bradley Chubb has been a need for this franchise in recent years, and an elegant solution like Isaiah Simmons could become the perfect solution.

With safety-like range and an aggressive linebacking mentality, Simmons is one of the most unique prospects to come through the NFL draft in years. As a multi-purpose ‘money-backer’ at Clemson, Simmons has racked up 61 tackles, 6 sacks, and 3 interceptions in his final season.

Denver has lacked at the interior linebacker spot, last having the position inherited by Todd Davis this past season. During the Broncos run to Super Bowl 50, linebackers Brandon Marshall and Danny Trevathan led the unit with consistent coverage and run support. Simmons is a modern take on the position and would be the perfect chess piece to be placed into Vic Fangio’s defense.

Simmons is a dynamic playmaker who will add a new dimension to any defense he may join. Denver is currently well-off at the safety position with Kareem Jackson and Justin Simmons but could use the help on the interior of the defense.

Strong run-stuffing nickel corners are a unique breed in the NFL, and Simmons could fill that role perfectly with the right coaching and scheme.
