Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are the next team on the list that make sense for Tua Tagovailoa. Like the Dolphins and Chargers, the Panthers have a top 10 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft (seventh overall). This is a team with a lot of questions surrounding the quarterback position heading into 2020. Cam Newton suffered a season-ending injury and he continues to miss games for the Panthers. Kyle Allen came in to relieve Newton, but teams caught on and showed that Allen isn’t the future.

The Panthers aren’t usually a team that moves up, but if they believe Tua is the future, they could make the move. If they do end up getting Tua, here’s why this move makes sense.

If Tua were to start at the beginning of the 2020 season, he would be able to lean on arguably the best running back in the league in Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey’s dual-threat ability would work well with Tua, and he could shoulder the load while Tua adjusts to the speed of the game.

The Panthers also have two receivers in D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel who can both work vertically, create quick separation, and dominate after the catch. The Panthers also have a developing reliable tight end in Ian Thomas. As long as the Panthers get some offensive line help in the offseason, they could be dangerous with Tua.
