The Chargers are another team that could be after Tua Tagovailoa in the 2020 NFL Draft. This almost falls at a perfect time for this franchise, as long-time quarterback Philip Rivers is a free agent and is at the tail end of his career. Plus, his 2019 season was a big drop off.

The Chargers currently have the sixth pick, one spot behind the Miami Dolphins. If the Chargers front office believes Tua is their guy, they could move a first-round pick next year to jump up and make the selection.

So why does this fit make sense? The Chargers do have Tyrod Taylor under contract for 2020, and he could be the bridge to Tua if Los Angeles believes he needs to rest in 2020 and start in 2021. If he is ready, Tua has the ability to start right away in the league. The Chargers have a consistent separator in Keenan Allen who would work so well with Tua, and a deep threat in Mike Williams to take advantage of Tua’s deep ball accuracy.

The key for the Chargers will be to add as much offensive line talent that they can in free agency and the draft to make sure Tua doesn’t have to worry about taking a lot of hits. If they can do that, the Chargers could be contenders again in a short time.
