Round 4, Pick 109 Overall: Josh Uche, EDGE/LB, Michigan

To begin day three in this 2020 NFL mock draft, I have Atlanta taking Michigan’s Josh Uche. Uche is a stand-up edge rusher that can drop back and be an effective coverage man as well. He’s athletic and incredibly bendy around the edge. He projects as a sub-package player early in his career with the potential to become an impactful versatile defender. As for a floor, he can contribute well on special teams with his great tackling and athleticism.

This selection also gives the Falcons the option to work in a 3-4 with Uche and Beasley to work as the outside linebackers if they decide to re-sign Beasley after finishing the season strong. If Quinn still believes he can get the best out of Vic, this is a great option to have scheme versatility.

Round 5, Pick 139 Overall: Lamical Perine, RB, Florida

Devonta Freeman just isn’t the same running back we saw during his rookie contract. The injuries he has had to deal with over the course of his career are obviously affecting his game. Lamical Perine can be a great complementary running back in the NFL. His tackle-breaking ability and vision are compelling aspects of his game. Get Perine occasional work, and he can provide great return-on-investment, especially as a day three selection.

Round 7, Pick 205 Overall: Levonta Taylor, CB, Florida State

For the final selection in this mock draft, I have the Atlanta Falcons selecting Levonta Taylor out of Florida State. The former 5-star high school recruit doesn’t get much action his way and thus doesn’t fill up the stat sheet. He is a natural cover man, though he is under-sized for the NFL as an outside cornerback. I think he is a sub-package player at the next level that could find success as a slot corner.

Since the crushing defeat in Super Bowl 51 against the New England Patriots, it is clear the Atlanta Falcons have taken a step back. To get back into contention for a Super Bowl, Atlanta must fill some holes and have an opportunity with the depth of this draft class in positions of need. In this mock draft, I gave my thoughts on prospects the Falcons could target that could help them get back to their Super Bowl contending ways.
