Who will the Carolina Panthers take with the seventh overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft?

The 2019 season did not exactly go according to plan for the Carolina Panthers. Cam Newton missed most of the season with a foot injury and the team seemed lost without him. Second-year quarterback Kyle Allen showed some promise in the middle of the season, but he really struggled down the stretch when teams started to get some tape on him.

Christian McCaffrey was absolutely incredible and carried the Panthers’ offense all season long. Even with an elite offensive playmaker like McCaffrey in the mix, the Panthers had a mediocre offense all season long. As mediocre as the offense was, the Panthers’ defense was even worse, allowing a ridiculous 29.4 points per game, the second-most in the entire NFL. A mediocre offense and bad defense led to the Panthers going 5-11 on the season.

Simply put, this roster needs a lot of work and should see some major changes this offseason. However, not all is lost for the future of this team.

Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper is an extremely smart and forward-thinking man who is going to look to rebuild this team from the ground up. He already started by firing head coach Ron Rivera. Now, Tepper will look to build a strong and sustainable structure to lead this team into the future.

The Carolina Panthers are an extremely interesting team that we all need to be keeping a close eye on this offseason. There is some legitimate hype around this franchise and they could become major players in free agency. Perhaps most importantly, their quarterback situation could be completely shaken up this offseason. What will they do with Cam Newton? Did they see enough out of Kyle Allen to give him a chance? What about Will Grier?

The quarterback position could certainly be on the radar for the Panthers in the 2020 NFL Draft, but they also have plenty of other needs that must be addressed. Carolina holds the seventh overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and could go in many different directions. In this post, we are going to look at the five most logical first-round targets for the team.
