Round 4, No. 125 Overall: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, LSU

The Kansas City Chiefs have just two selections on day three of the draft at the moment, so finding players who can provide an impact in these spots. One of these picks should be the running back position.

The signing of LeSean McCoy proved to be beneficial this season, especially with how many short term injuries the running back group has had in 2019. Damien Williams has the speed, and Darwin Thompson is explosive in space, but finding a back they can trust on early downs would help a lot.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire could be that guy for the Chiefs. Edwards-Helaire hasn’t declared just yet, but if he does, he can provide three-down help. He’s got great vision, good balance through contact, and moves very well laterally. Edwards-Helaire can also be available for passing downs, showing some route-running prowess and good hands. He would fit well there as a reliable back.

Round 5, No. 156 Overall: Alex Highsmith, EDGE, Charlotte

Edge help is the real final need for this team that stands out. Alex Okafor has been a nice signing, but he landed on injured reserve and his health isn’t a guarantee going forward. Tanoh Kpassagnon had the athletic ability coming out of college, but he hasn’t had a major impact.

He might not be the flashiest rusher in the class, but Alex Highsmith deserves more attention in the 2020 NFL Draft. Highsmith has the ability to turn the corner and bend around the edge and can win with an inside move as well. He doesn’t have a lot of length, but if he develops his technique, he can be an impact player.
