Round 1, No. 29 Overall: Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma

Where should the Kansas City Chiefs look first to strengthen their defense? The two positions that come to mind most are linebacker and corner. The corner class is a very deep one, while the linebacker class isn’t.

The linebacker class for the 2020 NFL Draft took a big hit after Dylan Moses announced he would return to Alabama, meaning that some players will get a jump in their stock because of it, especially in a weaker class like this one.

That could mean Kenneth Murray becomes a hotter commodity in this class, but as of now, in this mock, he falls all the way to the Chiefs’ selection. Murray recently stated in a video that he will enter the 2020 NFL Draft, and after the season he had, it makes a ton of sense. He was one of the leaders on that defense all season long.

Murray has the speed to work to both sidelines, and his acceleration to close downhill is impressive. He also has a nose for the ball, diagnosing plays with ease and is a violent finisher as a tackler. That speed and athleticism could come in handy for the Chiefs, who are in a conference with plenty of mobile quarterbacks. He could be the difference-maker they need at linebacker.
