player. 849. Scouting Report. Offensive Tackle. Mekhi Becton . Pick Analysis. Louisville. 45

With their second-round pick, I have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selecting Louisville offensive Mekhi Becton. As I said in the opening, veteran tackle Dotson will be a free agent this offseason and the depth behind him isn’t great. If the Tampa Bay Buccaneers want whoever is under center next year to succeed, then protecting him should be one of their top priorities.

Becton is someone who has risen up boards in recent weeks and for good reason. Standing at 6-9 and weighing in at 369 pounds, Becton is a mountain of a man who moves very well for someone his size. His long arms help him move edge rushers out of the way of the quarterback, using his heavy hands and power to keep the pocket clean. While his size may be a concern and for me, it’s something to keep an eye on, Becton’s movement skills and technique are very promising.

Becton is a big and powerful tackle that can start day one at right tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With Donovan Smith playing better plus the potential addition of Becton through the draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could have a solid offensive tackle duo.

Scouting Report. Texas. Brandon Jones. 76. Pick Analysis. Safety. player. 851

Over the past few drafts, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have spent significant draft capital on their secondary. They have a good young core with corners Murphy-Bunting, Jamel Dean and Carlton Davis. However, they could add another top-flight corner to really give the group an extra punch so to speak.

On the back end at the safety position, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could use a bit more help. Mike Edwards and Justin Evans are solid options at free safety, however, their options at strong safety are not quite as concrete.

Here in the third round, I have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selecting Texas Longhorn Brandon Jones. At 6-foot, 205 pounds, Jones is a well built strong safety who shows an impeccable tackling ability, especially for a Big-12 defensive back.

While I have some qualms about his ability to cover man on man, what Jones offers as a run defender balances out some of his shortcomings in coverage. Overall, the senior from Texas would a nice defensive chess piece for Bowles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense.
