The Denver Broncos have to be feeling pretty good about what they saw from Drew Lock. Their goal in the 2020 NFL Draft must be to support him.

The Denver Broncos got off to a really sad start in their first eight games of the 2019 season with Joe Flacco at the quarterback position, and then over the course of the next three games with Brandon Allen taking snaps as the starter.

The Broncos have been struggling, as many NFL teams do, to find an adequate starting quarterback.

The team was able to utilize a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft on quarterback Drew Lock, a player many felt was a first-round talent in the 2019 draft.

Lock’s tremendous talent was met with fair criticism from Broncos head coach Vic Fangio early on in training camp as Fangio compared him to a hard-throwing pitcher who didn’t quite know how to be a pitcher yet.

After suffering a preseason injury, Lock went on IR and the Broncos obviously hoped Joe Flacco could put them in playoff contention and excel in Rich Scangarello’s offense like he did in 2014 in a similar offense under Gary Kubiak.

When Flacco had to go on IR with a neck injury, the Broncos set in motion a plan to get Lock onto the field, and he ended up playing in the final five games of the season, more than showing his ability to be the quarterback of this Denver team moving forward.

And that leads us to the 2020 offseason, where the Broncos have $60 million in cap space (before making any cuts), five picks in the top 100, seven picks in the first four rounds, and a compensatory fifth-round pick on the way to give them at least one selection in every round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Using The Draft Network’s mock draft machine, I took a look at a seven-round mock draft scenario for the Broncos in the 2020 NFL Draft surrounding Drew Lock with as much talent as possible — on both sides of the football.
