*Big trade alert*

Obviously, many Raiders fans are going to question this selection and the idea of trading two first-round picks (and more) to move up and make it.

Tua Tagovailoa is going to be a polarizing prospect for this draft class, but I think he’s still very obviously a top-tier franchise-type QB, and I don’t think the Raiders currently have that in Derek Carr.

Carr is a solid quarterback, should be a starter somewhere, but the Raiders have yet to draft a quarterback under Jon Gruden and I think that’s soon to happen.

Tagovailoa is a tremendous talent, and the Raiders are probably going to be too good of a team next year to be in position to move up for a quarterback of their choosing.

Take a shot on Tua.

He’s supposed to be healthy enough to throw by the Spring. His injury history is definitely a concern, but as the Raiders move to Las Vegas, this is a gamble worth taking. They have to out-score Patrick Mahomes to win their division, and Tua is a guy who can absolutely light up a scoreboard.

The Raiders need their QB spot solidified for the foreseeable future, and they could recoup assets by trading Derek Carr somewhere. This wouldn’t so substantially handcuff their draft capital, and the Raiders also have flexibility in free agency and a huge lure with no state income tax.

There are going to be plenty of backup options to protect the Raiders here, but this is a move I can see them making and Tagovailoa is a player I think Gruden and Mayock will fall in love with.
