2020 NFL Draft: Raiders make huge trade in first round mock draft
The Seattle Seahawks have a couple of players (Germain Ifedi, Mike Iupati) slated for free agency and they need players who can keep Russell Wilson protected.
Initially, we had this pick as Alabama offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood, who played both guard and tackle for the Crimson Tide and seemed to be a nice fit for Seattle considering their needs on the offensive line may be multiple.
That has changed with the news that Leatherwood will now be returning to Alabama for his senior season.
With that said, Austin Jackson would also be a fine pickup for Seattle at this juncture. Jackson is considered by some to be an OT1 type of prospect in this class with excellent length, athletic ability, and hand punch.
He could be the Seahawks’ right tackle right away, and maybe an heir apparent to Duane Brown.
The Seahawks have shown a willingness to trade first-round picks for proven players as well, so you can’t rule that out with this pick depending on what guys are available around the league, but Leatherwood would be a nice pick for Seattle and could start at a number of spots for them.
