2020 NFL Draft: Raiders make huge trade in first round mock draft
The New York Jets would obviously love a top offensive tackle here, I’m sure, but they have to settle for the best defensive player on the board after a run on three tackles in the top 10 picks.
AJ Epenesa is not a bad consolation prize.
Although he’s not as dynamic off the edge as Chase Young, Epenesa is, in his own right, a refined and well-rounded prospect with excellent size, length, and work ethic.
There are rumors he could be going back to school, but he has a ticket for a top 15 selection in this class if he wants it.
The Jets traded away Leonard Williams last year and need to re-fortify their defensive end position.
Epenesa is a scheme versatile player in my opinion who can help get after the quarterback and make a lot of plays behind the line of scrimmage. I also think he has high upside as a guy who can bat down passes and maybe block some kicks for you.
