Miami Dolphins 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: A bright future
The Miami Dolphins also hold the 18th pick in the first round, due to the trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers. With this pick, the Dolphins get Tagovailoa a familiar weapon in Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs III.
Ruggs is going to be the fastest and most explosive player in the 2020 NFL draft class. He is going to tear up the NFL Scouting Combine, potentially setting speed records throughout the process.
Ruggs is a legitimate burner on the outside, but he is more than just a player who runs fast in a straight line. He also shows impressive quickness and is naturally elusive in the open field. Ruggs is a smooth and precise route runner who can easily create separation, has soft hands and creates extremely well after the catch. With Ruggs on one side and DeVante Parker on the other, Tagovailoa would have plenty of offensive firepowers to work with in Miami.
With their third and final first-round selection, the Dolphins get some help on the defensive side of the ball. LSU edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson is extremely quick off of the ball and shows an impressive combination of length and natural athleticism on the edge. He is an impressive natural pass rusher who can bend around the edge or knife through the line of scrimmage with a quick inside move. He also closes on the quarterback extremely well.
Chaisson is a bit of an unrefined talent, but his raw upside is apparent. Late in the first round of this mock draft, the Miami Dolphins find themselves a player who they could potentially build their defense around.
