Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama

If defensive backs coach Kris Richard sticks around, he will likely be pounding the table for Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs. At 6-foot-2, 207 pounds with fantastic length, Diggs has ideal size on the outside. He is suffocating at the line of scrimmage, using his long arms and powerful punch extremely well to get opposing receivers off track at the snap.

Diggs shows extremely impressive press coverage skills and is tremendous in zone coverage. He is a strong athlete who fights for the ball in the air well. Diggs reads the quarterback extremely well and does a great job of breaking on the ball.

He is a big and athletic cornerback prospect who can shut down receivers on the outside. That being said, Diggs does not have ideal short-area quickness for the position. He can struggle against quicker receivers who change directions well. He can hold his own against deep speed, but Diggs will struggle against the shiftier receivers in the NFL.

Cowboys cornerback Byron Jones will hit the open market this offseason, leaving a major hole for the team on the defensive side of the ball. Cap space is going to be tight for Dallas and Jones is a guy who they could let walk and replace in the 2020 NFL Draft. Taking Diggs to replace Jones would cost a first-round pick, but it could free up the necessary cap space for the Dallas Cowboys to re-sign guys like Dak Prescott and Dak Prescott.
