It feels like Greg Olsen is ageless at the tight end position and obviously the Carolina Panthers have loved the upside of 2018 fourth-round pick Ian Thomas at the tight end position, but Jared Pinkney was too good of a value to pass up on here.
Pinkney was considered a first-round player by NFL evaluators after his junior season, and unfortunately this year he was limited to eight games and just 20 receptions.
He caught 50 balls and seven touchdowns two years ago, and his ability to play in-line could be an attractive option here as he would obviously be an asset in the running game as well as in the passing game.
If Pinkney lasts to day three, the Panthers would be getting a nice value and a player who could step in and play right away as well as be an heir apparent to Greg Olsen.
