The Panthers have invested plenty in their offensive line in recent years with Matt Paradis coming in free agency last year and Greg Little being drafted in the second round, but there’s more work to be done.

Carolina can never be too certain that Cam Newton is going to be well-protected or that Christian McCaffrey’s running lanes are just going to open, and a player like Calvin Throckmorton could be exactly what they need in round three.

Throckmorton has played multiple positions at a high level for the Ducks over the past four seasons, including both tackle positions, guard, and even canter.

Throckmorton’s versatility will be one of the things NFL teams love most about him. For the Panthers, his quickest path to playing time as a rookie may be as a guard, but he could step in and play tackle if need be as well.

It will be interesting to see where NFL teams believe his best fit is going forward to the next level.
