NFL Draft: Ranking the top 10 Day 2 picks of the decade (2010-2019)
By Jason Truitt
The physical resemblance of another genius NFL Draft move by Bill Belichick: Rob Gronkowski. And the resemblance is… massive to say the least. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound tight end was like some monster out of a Marvel movie eager to show the world its football talents.
After the departure of the legendary Randy Moss during the 2010 season, quarterback Tom Brady probably prayed for someone with a similar playing style and size. That someone was already on the roster as a rookie.
The physical tight end did more than just leave his mark in the league. Let’s run through some of his milestones: Most touchdowns per game for a tight end in NFL history, most Patriots touchdown catches and his phenomenal single-season record of the most touchdowns scored by a tight end in NFL history with 17.
If it wasn’t for an injury-filled career, Gronkowski could’ve had undoubtedly been the GOAT at the tight end position. Eventually, the common injuries and surgeries that Gronkowski experienced caught up to the tight end. Gronkowski wanted to finally live a life pain-free and retired in March of 2019.
Regardless of a career cut short, Gronkowski has cemented himself as the best Day 2 NFL Draft pick from the past decade.
