Pick Analysis. Alabama. Raekwon Davis. 50. Scouting Report. DT. 2. player

The Lions have a need at defensive tackle and it could become an even bigger need if Damon Harrison decides to retire. Mike Daniels was signed but he only played in nine games this season due to a foot injury and is also a free agent.

Raekwon Davis would be an ideal replacement for Harrison because he is also a monster against the run. He has massive size (6-foot-7, 312 pounds) and he uses that to his advantage well when defending the run game along with his strength and hand usage.

Where he needs to improve is his rushing the passer. While he does have a massive frame, he just isn’t quick off the line of scrimmage and that just limits his abilities as a pass rusher. He only has two sacks in the past seasons after putting up 8.5 in 2017.

LB. Texas Tech. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Jordyn Brooks. 3. 50

Aside from last year’s second-rounder Jahlani Tavai who has had a decent rookie year, the Detroit Lions have not gotten strong play out of the linebacker position this season. Former first-rounder Jarrad Davis has been a bust and it would be in Detroit’s best interest to look at potential replacements for him.

Jordyn Brooks was a consensus Second-Team All-American this season. He is a good athlete, who has good instincts defending the run. He is very capable of rushing the quarterback and playing a quarterback spy role.

I am concerned about how he’ll do when he has to drop back in coverage, it is a necessity for linebackers in today’s NFL and he wasn’t asked to do it as much because he played around the line of scrimmage as quarterback spy on many pass plays.
