Tristan Wirfs. player. 878. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. OT. Iowa. 2

Improving the offensive line has to be priority number one for the New York Jets this offseason. Tristan Wirfs is a massive human being at 6-foot-5 and 322 pounds who could play either tackle spot for the Jets.

Sam Darnold’s development is the most important factor for the Jets and Wirfs could be a big piece to help build a wall in front of the 22-year-old signal-caller. Wirfs is a plug and play prospect that may fit right away at right tackle for the Jets if they decide to bring back Beachum for another year to protect Darnold’s blindside.

The only question on Wirfs is if he can make the transition to the left side, but honestly, that may not be a big deal. Many lot of the top pass rusher’s in the NFL line up across the right tackle and there’s no doubt in my mind that Wirfs will be able to hold his own on that side. If the Jets want to play him on the left side, Wirfs did fill in at the position for a few games at Iowa this season, playing left tackle at an extremely high level.

The Iowa product has quick feet that will play well in pass protection and is a mauler in the run game. The New York Jets have used eleven different offensive lineman and nine different line combinations this season. They simply must address this position and Wirfs could be a big piece to fixing it.
