Ranking the 10 best NFL Draft picks of the decade (2010-2019)
1. 2014 NFL Draft: Aaron Donald, Los Angeles Rams, Round 1, Pick 13
There is nobody in the NFL that has been as dominant at their position as Aaron Donald has been since coming into the league. The former Pitt Panther entered the 2014 NFL Draft as an undersized interior defensive lineman but had unreal numbers at the collegiate level and showed off freakish athletic ability at the NFL combine that led to him being taken with the 13th overall pick by the Rams.
Since then, Donald has racked up the accomplishments. He’s been voted into the Pro-Bowl every year he’s been in the league, took home the Defensive Rookie of the Year award, is already a four-time All-Pro and is the reigning back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year. He joined J.J. Watt and Lawrence Taylor as the only players to ever win it in consecutive years.
His numbers from the interior are eye-popping, as he has already totaled 72 sacks in just 93 career games. If he mirrored this production for the next six seasons, Donald would be sixth all-time in sacks and there is no reason to believe he won’t get there.
He is truly the biggest mismatch in the NFL today and it really doesn’t matter who you put in front of him. There is no doubt in my mind that Aaron Donald is the best NFL Draft pick of the last decade.
