2020 NFL Draft: QB class gets stronger with Jacob Eason

The 2020 NFL Draft is going to be wildly interesting at the quarterback position, and Washington Huskies star Jacob Eason will be among the big names.

The 2020 NFL Draft will be heavy on the quarterback storylines, and the group just got a little bit deeper with the news of Washington Huskies quarterback Jacob Eason leaving school early.

Eason’s college career started off at Georgia where he threw for 2,430 yards, 16 touchdowns, and eight interceptions before Jake Fromm came onto the scene in 2017. When he lost his job to Fromm, Eason entered the transfer portal and wound up all the way on the other end of the country playing in the Pac 12 for the Washington Huskies program.

After sitting out all of 2018, Eason showed the whole country what kind of raw talent he has with a tremendous junior season for Washington, completing 64.2 percent of his passes for 3,132 yards, 23 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions.

Eason announced his plans to enter the 2020 NFL Draft on his Twitter page.

At 6-foot-6, 227 pounds, Eason has great size for the quarterback position and he showed this past year at Washington that he has more than enough arm strength and confidence in his arm to fit the ball in tight windows, including on seemingly impossible throws downfield.

He made a few throws this past season that left me wondering whether I’d even actually seen another quarterback do the things he was doing.

Of course, Eason is by no means a finished product at this point. He has plenty to work on in his game including being consistently accurate on all throws and understanding what ‘pitches’ to throw because of his arm strength.

With that said, Eason’s talent is undeniable and he’s entering the NFL Draft because he likely got favorable reviews from the advisory board. There are always teams needing quarterbacks, and plenty of teams looking for guys to eventually take over their franchise.

Eason could very well be a first-round pick when all is said and done.
