Washington Redskins 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: Back at No. 2 pick
Late in this mock draft, the Washington Redskins take Missouri tight end Albert Okwuegbunam. I had my eye on the tight end position to help with the development of Haskins and Okwuegbunam felt like a strong fit.
Albert O is a big and powerful tight end who consistently snatches the ball out of the air with ease. He does not consistently separate from the tight end position, but he does have enough speed to stretch the field a bit in the middle. Most importantly, he is a good blocker and jump-ball receiver. He could quickly become a security blanket and a strong red-zone option for Haskins.
An extremely hard-working and athletic linebacker prospect, Mohamed Barry certainly has some interesting upside at the next level. He is a true sideline-to-sideline defender who also shows some ability in coverage. Barry has had some issues with tackling in space, but he is an interesting linebacker prospect who could come in and play a role for the Redskins on special teams and perhaps even defense.
If you are looking for a power-based interior offensive lineman late in the 2020 NFL Draft, John Simpson should be your guy. Simpson consistently knocks defenders off of the ball, using great pad level and strong hands. He is relatively quick off of the ball and looks to embarrass opposing defenders with a strong finish.
Simpson does struggle against speed on the inside, but he is quick enough to reach the second level in the run game. Plus, once he gets his hands on a defender, it is game over. Simpson is a perfect fit for a gap scheme at the next level and his power at the point of attack gives him a fair bit of upside.
