Washington Redskins 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: Back at No. 2 pick
Chase Young was the most dominant player in college football this season and if it were not for a seemingly undeserved two-game suspension, he may have had a serious chance to win a Heisman Trophy. In 11 games this season, Young has 44 total tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles. He has been a consistent playmaker on the edge, dominating as both a pass rusher and a run defender.
Young basically has it all on the edge. He is big, long and powerful, dominating with strong and quick hands at all times. While he certainly has plenty of power, Young can also dominate with speed and athleticism on the edge. He gets off of the ball quickly, consistently gets great upfield burst and can bend around the edge with ease. When Young gets a path to the quarterback, he closes on the passer quicker than any prospect in the class.
Simply put, Young is a dominant defender who any team would love to have. He is the kind of guy who you can build a defense around. The only real issue here is that the Washington Redskins have much bigger needs to address. They have obvious needs at left tackle and cornerbacks that will need attention at some point. However, Young is simply too good of a player to pass up here.
When the actual draft rolls around, this may be a potential trade down spot for Washington, but if they stand pat, Young should be the guy.
