Curtis Weaver, EDGE, Boise State

Curtis Weaver has been dominant for Boise State this year and has a chance to be one of the premier defenders in the 2020 NFL draft class. He is currently fifth in the nation in sacks with 13.5, according to ESPN.

Weaver is an intriguing player who plays mostly at 3-4 OLB and rushes the passer off the edge, but he also drops back into coverage at times.  He is a solid athlete who displays good quickness for his size (6-foot-3, 265 pounds) and he wins with that quickness at the college level.

He also has shown good flexibility with shoulder dips in some of his rushes. He’s shown a good ability to read what the other team is trying to do and react, whether that’s reading a screen pass and getting outside or jumping and getting his hands up in the passing lane to force the quarterback to throw to somebody else.

This game against Washington is big for Weaver to prove that he can also dominate against better competition.  Right now, he will most likely be a second-day pick, but with a good performance against a respected opponent, he can potentially work his way into the first-round conversation.

John Molchon, OG, Boise State

John Molchon is an extremely interesting offensive guard prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft who has been named first-team All-Mountain West for his play on the field.

He has good size for a guard (6-foot-5, 318 pounds) and he wins with his size and his strength against his current competition. He isn’t much of an athlete however, which I presume is why he plays on the inside and not tackle. I am worried he’ll be too susceptible to quick pass rushers at the next level because he just doesn’t have quick feet.

Right now, Molchon is probably looking at being selected sometime on day three of the 2020 NFL Draft. Proving that he can hold up against better competition in this bowl game could go a long way in proving that he deserves a shot in the NFL.
