59. Scouting Report. 3. Andrew Thomas. player. Pick Analysis. Offensive tackle. Georgia

The first shock in the 2020 NFL Draft starts right here. I can hear Dolphins fans screaming as they read this, as they’ve been hoping for Tua Tagovailoa all season long. However, Tua is still deciding if he even wants to enter the draft and his medicals are still in question. Instead, Miami doesn’t take a quarterback and goes with a blue chip talent here.

Andrew Thomas has great traits as an offensive tackle. He may not be in the elite tier with Laremy Tunsil as far as prospects go the last few seasons, but Thomas has all the makings of a good pro and is a high floor player.

Thomas is a powerful tackle with great upper and lower body strength. He shows it with his ability to stop defenders in their tracks and displace them in the run game. Thomas can get out in space and work to the second level as a blocker as well. In pass protection, Thomas gets a great punch with his hands at initial contact and has a good anchor and good footwork to keep rushers in front of him.

There are some questions about how he handles speed rushers, but his performance against K’Lavon Chaisson in the SEC title game should dispel some of those concerns. Thomas would fit in well in Miami.
