2020 NFL Draft: Dolphins pass on Tua in this first-round mock draft
With their second selection in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, it will be a different approach for the Raiders. They selected Henry Ruggs III with their first pick to help out the offense, so addressing the defense with their next pick makes a ton of sense.
There are two big areas on defense that the Raiders need to address. The cornerback room is very thin after they traded former first-round pick Gareon Conley to the Texans, so finding a corner who can start right away would make sense. However, at this point in the first round, there may not be value with anyone left. The other spot that makes sense for the Raiders is the linebacker position. It’s hard to see a position with Tahir Whitehead, Will Compton, and Nicholas Morrow as the starters being impactful enough.
The good news is that Dylan Moses is right here for the Raiders to scoop up with their second pick. Moses missed the whole 2019 season with a torn ACL, so with no fresh film, teams may have forgotten about him to this point.
They shouldn’t though, because the 2018 film on Moses is fantastic. He has the size of a prototypical linebacker, but his range is outstanding for his size. There’s a clip going around of him chasing down Kyler Murray in the playoff semifinal. Combine that range with his instincts, physicality, and ability to recognize routes in coverage, and we are looking at a complete player.
