Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Defensive tackle. Derrick Brown. 46. Auburn. 15. player

It’s been a wild 2019 season for the Indianapolis Colts, and it felt like an uphill battle before the season even started. Jacoby Brissett took over after Andrew Luck retired, and it looked like the Colts weren’t missing a beat after a 5-2 start. It hasn’t been easy since the start, and Brissett has regressed in the second half of the year. Now that they’re eliminated, Colts twitter has begun looking at quarterbacks in the 2020 NFL Draft.

However, it’s about finding value in this draft and not reaching. Is Jordan Love worth the selection here? It’s hard to say. But Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown sure is, and the Colts strike gold here by selecting him.

Brown is, in this writer’s opinion, one of the top five players in the 2020 NFL Draft. So why does he fall this far? We never know who the second choice was for teams after they pick, and in this scenario, Brown was in consideration in a lot of spots. But, he ends up here because this is the best fit for the Colts in the 15 slot.

Brown has been unbelievable this season. He can collapse the pocket with brute strength and with quickness off the snap, but his instincts are what separates him from the rest of the class. Having impact players at every level of the defense is important, and now Indy has one on the line in Brown.
